What's New at Binarystar
We have been “beavering away” (thanks Jon), adding new features, new platforms and new dealers. To summarize what’s happening:

QM Windows / QM Linux
QM, a low-priced extended relational database (following the Prime model) is starting to gain ground here and abroad. Nucleus / QM on Linux is FREE for 2 users, and comes with the COMPLETE development system, source code control, change control, messaging, file manager, schema designer and more. Nucleus is not an open-source product.
UniData
The long-awaited Nucleus port to UniData, is now available. UniData, from IBM, is a robust implementation of an extended relational database following the Prime model, using “I” and “D” type Data Dictionaries. UniData is used at many banks, educational institutions, hospitals, 911 centers and manufacturing facilities throughout the world. NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is a UniData site.
Reality X
The long awaited port of Nucleus to Reality X, is available. Reality X, is a robust implementation of an extended relational database, supporting nested tables, used by numerous cities, hospitals, police departments, 911 facilities and manufacturing facilities through out the United Kingdom, and is beginning to make a mark here in the US at larger sites.
BOSS Open source distribution system
The General Ledger portion of the BOSS distribution system is expected to be available from select Nucleus dealers by October 1, 2006. Completely re-organized with separate data and program accounts, BOSS promises to be both a resource for Nucleus developers as a learning tool, and a viable foundation for the development of robust commercial applications. The BOSS General Leger includes an extremely flexible GL report writer that enables downloads to excel spreadsheets.

Nucleus release 3.87
The latest release of Nucleus, 3.87 is now available. Many new features have been added, including the long-awaited DUMPSCREEN and LOADSCREEN utilities to facilitate support and peer review of your Nucleus applications. A WYSWIG forms designer, a new Calendar object with a Week number display column, an improved Graphic User interface (faster, easier), additional security enhancements, new printer selection and output re-direction utilities, and the hostname added to Information line.

SNIFIT – system mapping and conflict resolution
Beta copies of the SNIFIT utilities account are now available. SNIFIT, a long-awaited utility set will map Accounts, data files, program files, and Proc files. SNIFIT utilities include:
- Map data dicts to report (and fix) Left justified data dictionaries
- Conflict mapping to analyze conflicts between cataloged programs and programs residing in other program files in an account. This utility can save hundreds of hours of research and help to eliminate those mysterious errors.
- Referential integrity report, analyzing coordinated multi-value sets to determine if different counts exist within the set, and report each record found to have anomalies. Numerous run-time options exist to auto-map based on controlling and dependent attributes designated within data dictionaries, or by individually specified attributes (name or number)
- Future enhancements – Mapping each CALL or EXECUTE within a program, mapping the files opened and written to. Variable mapping, system operators used, attributes in records changed, as well as use of $INCLUDE and $OPTION .
NUC.DEMO – demonstration account
Many new features and examples have been added to the Nucleus demonstration account. There is now a new calendar object with a column showing week number. A more extensive order entry program now using separate header and detail lines has been added. Full source code for all applications in the demo account is included.
